Recommended Method
Burnishing
5 steps

Bevel the Edge
Use an edge beveler matching your leather thickness. Run along both sides of the edge to round it.

Tip
A size 2 beveler works well for 5-8oz leather.

Sand Smooth
Sand the edge with progressively finer grits: 220, 400, then 600. Sand along the length, not across.

Apply Gum Tragacanth
Apply a thin coat of gum tragacanth or Tokonole to the edge. Let it absorb for 30 seconds.

Burnish with Canvas
Rub firmly with canvas or denim scrap using rapid back-and-forth motion. Edge should become glossy.

Optional: Edge Paint/Coat
For a colored or extra-smooth edge, apply edge paint after burnishing. Sand between coats.
