How to Use This Calculator

1. Select a standard hat size or choose Custom and measure the head circumference.
2. Choose your hat style — beanie (fitted), slouchy, or beret each have different proportions.
3. Set negative ease (typically -1" to -2") so the hat stretches to fit snugly.
4. Enter your blocked swatch gauge (stitches and rows per 4 inches).
5. Click Calculate to get cast-on, row breakdown, and a crown decrease schedule.
