Mixed Lighting Problems

Window + Tungsten

Problem: Daylight (5500K) from window, tungsten (3200K) from lamps — one side blue, one side orange

Solution: Match lights by using daylight-balanced bulbs or gel the tungsten with CTB (Color Temperature Blue) filter

Flash + Tungsten

Problem: Flash (5500K) on subject, tungsten (3200K) background — subject correct, background orange

Solution: Add CTO (Color Temperature Orange) gel to flash to match ambient, then set WB to Tungsten

Fluorescent + Daylight

Problem: Fluorescent has green cast, daylight does not — uneven color across image

Solution: Use plus-green (window-green) filter on flash to match fluorescent, correct in post with magenta tint

LED + Tungsten

Problem: LEDs vary widely (2700-6500K), mixing creates inconsistent color patches

Solution: Use same-color temperature LEDs throughout, or shoot RAW and correct selectively in post
