How to Use
- During inspection, count the number of frame sides fully covered by bees (both sides of each frame).
- Count frames containing eggs, larvae, or capped brood.
- Select your frame size (deep, medium, or shallow).
- Click Estimate Population to calculate colony size and strength rating.
Standard estimates: ~2,500 bees per deep frame side, ~1,800 per medium, ~1,200 per shallow. These are approximations — actual density varies with bee size, clustering behavior, and season. A healthy peak-season colony has 50,000-80,000 bees.
