What's the most important item I can't forget?
Your snorkel mask. Without it, you can't breathe underwater or see clearly. Everything else has workarounds, but the mask is non-negotiable.
Why do I need defog solution?
Saliva or commercial defog prevents mask fogging in water. Without it, your mask will fog within minutes, destroying your view. Always have some.
Can I skip the rash guard if I have sunscreen?
Ideally no. Sunscreen washes off quickly in water, but a rash guard provides continuous UV protection. Combination is best.
Do I really need water shoes?
They protect your feet from sharp coral, rocks, and sea urchins. Skip them only if the snorkel site is sandy and examined first.
