Limited / Check Locally

Plastics recyclability depends heavily on the resin identification code (1–7) and your local facility. Always check local rules.

Preparation steps

  • Rinse out food and liquids
  • Remove and discard plastic caps/lids unless your program accepts them
  • Leave labels on, but remove plastic film
  • Do not bag recyclables in plastic bags — keep them loose

Common items

BottlesJugsTubsClamshell containers

⚠️ Important notes

  • Bags, wraps and film plastics clog sorting machines — take to store drop-off only.
  • Black plastic often cannot be detected by optical sorters.
