Common EQ ranges for instruments and frequency character
General Frequency Ranges

EQ Tips
Cut before boost — subtractive EQ is more transparent than additive.
Use narrow Q for problem frequencies, wide Q for tonal shaping.
High-pass filter at 30–80 Hz on most tracks to remove sub rumble.
The 200–500 Hz range is where most mixes get muddy — cut strategically.
Boost 8–12 kHz for air, but watch for noise and harshness.
